Take the Time to Connect With Your Soul

I didn’t know what to write today. I didn’t even know if I wanted to write. After I’d stopped distracting myself with other things on my to do list (a common tactic) and thought about it, a thought popped into my head (some people call them inspired ideas, some call them brain farts!!) Anyway, I decided this was an inspired idea…

Free writing. Sitting down with my fingers on the keyboard and just writing whatever popped into my head to share. Because my eyes are the primary sidekicks of distraction, I also decided to blindfold myself while doing it. (My inner grammar dictator is horrified at what she’ll see when I take off the blindfold…although I can touch type, my accuracy isn’t great!)

Before I started, I decided to meditate. But not a silent meditation or a mantra meditation or a guided meditation (my usual go to’s for meditation time) but musical meditation – I let my playlist guide me and sat quietly just listening (until I started chair dancing!)

I could feel the euphoria rising in me…why don’t I do this more often? Just stop and listen. No eyes to distract me. Just me and the music and a moment of sacred connection to my soul.
And that is what my free writing soul wants to share with you today.

Connect.

Give your soul a moment of your time to be heard, to be felt. You don’t have to free write with a blindfold, or listen to music in the dark…unless those things appeal to you. Just do what will allow you to connect to your soul.

Give your soul a chance to be heard and felt and given space.

Your soul is waiting patiently to guide you through all the difficulties you face. But you need to ask for its help. Then you need to LISTEN. And to be honest, if you just listen that’ll be enough – the soul doesn’t need you to ask. (It just helps you formulate the answers if there’s a question).

As I type this, RESPECT is playing in the background – show your soul some respect.

Show yourself some respect.

Connect soul

Gift yourself the time to hear what your soul wants to share with you.

Be open to guidance.

Be open to doing things differently.

Be open to sitting with your fingers on the keyboard and letting your thoughts spill out.

Be open to putting on a blindfold and giving your eyes a rest.

Be open to making mistakes, to being lost, to not knowing where you’re going.

Let the messages unfold.

Be your own greatest guide and mentor.

Rock with your soul…even if just for a few minutes.
