time for what's calling

Make Time For What’s Calling You

Are you hearing the call of something? That gentle insistent nudge to do…something? Or maybe it’s less gentle… more like a shouting in your ear, and hitting you with an anvil…sometimes guidance is not subtle, right?!

That calling might be to finally write the book, start the business, do the thing that’s been tickling the edge of your consciousness for some time now.

the call might be a persistent thought of “oh yes, I’ve been meaning to do that…for years”, or it might be an uncomfortable feeling when you think of that project, or it might be like a buzzing in your ear, or it might be a whisper of an idea that just won’t leave you alone.

You know what it is, it’s calling to be done.

And if you genuinely don’t know what it is, get quiet. Take some time to meditate, or stare out of the window, or take a long walk…what’s calling us is always there, we might just need to make time, space and quiet so we can hear it.

What’s calling me is my next book(s). For a few months I’ve felt the gentle nudge to work on my next book…and I’ve ignored it! Last week, after the Amazon giveaway of “Fall in Love With Life”, another of my books (one that’s done and on Amazon, but I want to update with some extra info) started to call me…and there was nothing gentle about this call.

It was more like “HEY! YOU! GET ME FINISHED, EH?”

And then, another book (one that was written years ago but needs updating), started also clamouring for my attention.

Hmm, think I, I need a writing day. Possibly to work on all 3 huge projects, possibly to choose the one that’s shouting the loudest and see if they all then pipe down. I don’t intend to work on them all long term – I shall do what I always do and pick one to work on…but on that writing day, I might just get them all out and play for a couple of hours with each and see what happens.

Because those things that are calling to be done just need some of your time. That’s why they’re calling you.

So get your diary out and put in some time for that thing that’s calling you. Don’t wait til you have more time (it never happens). Don’t think ‘I’ll do it next week’ (how long have you been putting it off now?) Get out your diary and find some time to do it, even if it’s only half an hour – we do what we can with what we have.

And if you’re interested in having a writing day, I’ve recorded some videos to help you have a fabulous writing (or creation) day in the Facebook group Creative Catalyst Circle. Join us here.
