The Process of Life

February 24, 2010 by Donnaonthebeach

I have lost count of how often people have said to me “I’m not there yet” – as in “I’m not Queen of the universe yet”, “I’m not a gazillionaire yet”, “I’m not filling my potential yet”. Who is? Everybody has more they want to achieve, more they want to do, and it often doesn’t matter how much they have done and achieved, there is still another mountain to climb.

Everyone’s life is in process. Step by step by step we move towards what we want…and as we get closer, we discover that we want something more, something different, something else. When I started out in business, my ambition was to earn a decent living from one to one coaching. Now that vision has expanded to include an entire “empire” I’m working towards!! (See www.thefabulousformula.com for the inspiration for that ‘empire’!)

And I have no doubt that in 5 years time, my vision and ambition will have changed again. It’s a process. And by following that process, you discover sometimes that you don’t want what you though you wanted. You discover sometimes that there’s even more ambition once you get a little way along the path. And you discover sometimes that you’re on the right track.

In these days of speed web-browsing, speed food, and speed dating, we don’t want to wait, we want world domination NOW DAMMIT. Unlucky, because it’s a process! And if you ask me, that’s the fun of it – achievements don’t mean so much when there’s no blood, sweat and tears left on the path to them! Lol – you know me better than that – instead of blood, sweat and tears, make it fun, laughter and growth…

If you have not achieved everything you want in this life yet, why not give yourself a little bit of a break? It’s a process, you’re working on it, you’ll get there – I know you will. I believe in you. And if you want some help along the journey, get in touch with me to find out how coaching can help you to get clear about what you want, enjoy the journey more and set out the steps in front of you for you to take.

Enjoy the process!

Discover Your Unique Essence

February 22, 2010 by Donnaonthebeach
Filed under Blog posts, Donna's Life, Fun, Inspiration

This weekend I’ve been watching some Faaaaaaaaabulous videos from Sandy Grason about building your empire, masterminding and your unique essence. And I thought that you would love the process for discovering your unique essence. If you’d like to watch the video about it, click here.

In a nutshell, the process is this: 1. Get a sheet of paper and write “I am” at the top and 1 to 10 down the side. 2. Imagine yourself a year from now – your life has gone better than you could ever have dreamed. Revel in that picture of you. 3. Write down the first 10 words you think of to describe who you are being in that picture. Don’t edit, don’t second guess and just write. 4. Write out your “I am” statement with the 10 qualities and add “I allow the pure expression of my (your name)-ness to shine forth in every moment”.

5. Share it in a comment here. Here’s mine:

I am passionate, funny, confident, strong, articulate, joyous, energetic, magnetic, expressive, a leader with a super strong belief in the pure magnificence of people, authentic, playing full out, expansive and laid-back. I allow the pure expression of my Donna-liciousness
to shine forward in every moment.

Woohoo!

And God Made Dog

February 19, 2010 by Donnaonthebeach

A bit of Friday Fun for you:

And God created dog – The Story of Adam & Eve’s Pets

Adam and Eve said, ‘Lord, when we were in the garden, you walked with us every day. Now we do not see you anymore. We are lonesome here, and it is difficult for us to remember how much you
love us.’

And God said, ‘I will create a companion for you that will be with you and who will be a reflection of my love for you, so that you will love me even when you cannot see me. Regardless of how selfish or childish or unlovable you may be, this new companion will accept you as you are and will love you as I do, in spite of yourselves.’

And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam and Eve.

And it was a good animal.

And God was pleased.

And the new animal was pleased to be with Adam and Eve and he wagged his tail.

And Adam said, ‘Lord, I have already named all the animals in the Kingdom and I cannot think of a name for this new animal.’

And God said, ‘I have created this new animal to be a reflection of my love for you, his name will be a reflection of my own name, and you will call him DOG.’

And Dog lived with Adam and Eve and was a companion to them and loved them.

And they were comforted

And God was pleased.

And Dog was content and wagged his tail.

After a while, it came to pass that an angel came to the Lord and said, Lord, Adam and Eve have become filled with pride. They strut and preen like peacocks and they believe they are worthy of
adoration. Dog has indeed taught them that they are loved, but perhaps too well.’

And God said, ‘I will create for them a companion who will be with them and who will see them as they are. The companion will remind them of their limitations, so they will know that they are not always worthy of adoration..’

And God created CAT to be a companion to Adam and Eve.

And Cat would not obey them.. And when Adam and Eve gazed into Cat’s eyes, they were reminded that they were not the supreme beings.

And Adam and Eve learned humility..

And they were greatly improved.

And God was pleased . . .

And Dog was happy. . .

And Cat didn’t give a shit one way or the other…

Happy Friday!!!

Your Greatest Accomplishment

February 17, 2010 by Donnaonthebeach

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” Ralph Waldo Emerson. And to be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you into something else requires you to know who you are, accept who you are and love who you are. Warts and all. Imagine this…even with all your faults, all your problems, all the things you do and say wrong, you are still wonderful.

That combination of genius (that you never acknowledge), brilliance (that you never acknowledge) and mess (which you give way too much importance to) makes up the unique creation that is you. In order to be yourself, you need to be the one part of the world that isn’t trying to make you be something different. Be yourself – your real self, with your creativity, your passion, your joy, your grumpiness, your impatience. Be all of you…and that will be your greatest accomplishment.

When I’m On Good Form

February 16, 2010 by Donnaonthebeach
Filed under Blog posts, Donna's Life

When I am on good form, I am a business GENIUS! When I am on good form I am creative, productive, focused, I have a lot of fun and life is easy. When I am on good form I enjoy life more. When I am on good form I don’t take the bullshit so seriously. When I am on good form I am confident in my own skin. When I am in good form I am joyful, fun and energetic.

When I am on good form, I am the real me – magnificent, unique and have a great sense of humour and a lust for life.

So the only question I need to answer is: what can I do daily to get me on top form?

And the question I want to ask YOU is: who are you when you are on top form? And what can you do daily to get you on top form?

Leave a comment and let me know your thoughts.

Weekend Mojo

February 12, 2010 by Donnaonthebeach

How’s your mojo today? Just to make sure we are on the same wavelength here – your mojo is not a chewy penny sweet, your mojo is your passion, your joie de vivre, your enthusiasm, your desire for living and loving life. How’s your mojo right now? Give it a score on a rating of 1 to 10. Are you feeling full of beans, bouncing around, on top of the world? Or is your mojo hidden under several layers of stress, worry, chores, daily grind?

Often, the trouble is that your mojo isn’t that high on your priority list. Bills and chores come higher…and that, I suspect is what makes us lose our mojo. When you lose your mojo, you start to lose that love of life, the love of yourself, the knowledge that you are completely wonderful and life’s a laugh…and that is tragic.

Agatha Christie said “I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing.” The trouble with leaving your mojo low down on your to-do list is that you forget that to be alive is a grand thing.

You leave this lust for life til ‘tomorrow’, and miss out on LIVING – a fun, passionate, joyful, playful life. And that, quite frankly, is a big waste. Life is here to be enjoyed…and underneath all the layers of stress, worry, daily grind and bullshit, you are a fabulous, joyous, fun, isnpirational and magnificent being. So this weekend do what you can to rediscover your mojo.

Try some extreme self care, have some fun. If you must do chores, put some great music on as a backdrop and sing into the vacuum cleaner…or whatever! But whatever you do, get some weekend mojo!

Aiming High, Aiming Low

February 9, 2010 by Donnaonthebeach

I came across this quote recently “the problem for most of us isn’t that we aim too high and miss, it’s that we aim too low and reach it”. Many people are afraid to dream big because they feel they will be disappointed if they miss their goal. And yes, there can be lots of disappointment when you’re going after something big. Often it feels like your dream is still a thousand miles away, and sometimes you wonder if you are ever going to make it.

But there is also a great deal of joy in going for something big and exciting. It is a lot of fun to go for your dreams. There is enthusiasm, passion, laughter, adventure, growth, connection with people you never would have met otherwise, learning you would never have had otherwise. You often find out how much you don’t know about the journey you’ve embarked on…and then you get what you need to know!

If you don’t even bother aiming for something big, life is a drudge, a series of small disappointments that add up to a life of quiet despair. Now, call me picky, but I would much rather have the chance of failure than the certainty of misery and feeling like a failure anyway for not going for it. And remember that your big dream is just that – YOURS. It doesn’t have to be what someone else would think is ‘big’…it’s just what you want for your life when you start to dream big.

So, if you were going to just think about dreaming big, what big dreams might you have? leave me a comment or contact me and let me know. You don’t have to go after that big dream, but you might want to!

Stretch Your Mind

February 8, 2010 by Donnaonthebeach

Today I came across an affirmation from Louise Hay – “I love stretching my mind, thinking of the highest good available”. I love that – I love the idea of stretching yourself to imagine the best possible scenario. Now some people will say this is unrealistic…and to them I say: Bullshit.

Is it realistic to imagine that someone who is 5 minutes late home has been hit by a comet? No. Is it realistic to imagine that the boss wants a word because they will sack you? No. Is it possible? Oh yeah…but 99% of the things we worry about never happen – so is worry realistic? No.

Also, if you are in the habit of looking for the best in people, situations, yourself, you are more likely to find it (the same applies if you look for the worst) so it then becomes more realistic. “Realistic” when applied in this way usually means “pessimistic” and frankly, optimists have way more fun.

So today, stretch your mind by thinking of the best that is possible for you. Maybe, just maybe that ‘best’ is realistic, and something you can achieve. But you’ll never know unless you try!
