The Diamond in the Rough
May 31, 2011 by Donnaonthebeach

This morning I read this lovely article, and it got me thinking – how many of us are hiding the diamond within us? How many of us aren’t fully owning our magnificence? How many of us are standing on the sidelines, just watching life go by around us, thinking we can’t make a difference?
The truth is that you are a wonderful, brilliant, creative, special human being. And if you can’t see that, you need to find people who can show you who you really are. You are capable of so much more than you think, and it is a criminal waste for you to hide that diamond. There are many ways to uncover and polish that precious diamond, including connecting to your source, coaching, playing to your strengths, reading/watching inspirational material, looking in the mirror and seeing the diamond looking back at you.
The main thing you need is a willingness to mine that diamond. I promise you, it is there just waiting to be found. Please, please mine for it, polish it and start shining – the world needs you.

Pieces of a Puzzle

“There are no extra pieces in the universe. Everyone is here because he or she has a place to fill, and every piece must fit itself into the big jigsaw puzzle.” Deepak Chopra
You are an important piece of the grand puzzle – do you own that? Do you live that? Do you see how amazing, how beautiful, how wonderful you are? Or if something is currently darkening your brilliance (lack of self-belief, fear, feeling directionless), do you see how amazing, how beautiful, how wonderful you are? I can see the wonder of you from here…I hope you see it when you look in the mirror!
Own your own magnificence – own that you are a part of the grand puzzle, an important part. What can you do this week to show your faith in your importance?

PS I couldn’t say ‘jigsaw’ as a kid, it was a ‘jinksaw’ – just thought I’d share that!

What Do I Wish for My Health?

Wishcasting Wednesday is here again.
What Do I Wish for My Health?
Ah, such an easy one to answer – I wish to be vibrantly, radiantly healthy in every way. I wish for my health to be a higher priority in my life than my to do list. I wish to let go of all those things that no longer serve me. I wish for vibrant, radiant health in all areas of my life – healthy work, healthy relationships, healthy body, mind, heart and spirit. I wish for my health to be as good as it can be.Get involved on Jamie’s blog, or leave a comment here. As you wish for yourself, I wish for you also.

Accessing Your Intuition
May 24, 2011 by Donnaonthebeach
So, a couple of weeks ago I asked you to share with me the ways you access your inner wisdom, and promised to share the final list. Some of these are direct ways to access your inner voice, some are indirect, helping you to get quiet enough to hear that voice.
1. Visualisation
- Future self
- Wise man in a cave
- Wise woman in a cottage
- Board of advisors
2. Meditation
3. Writing
- Journal prompts
- ‘free’ writing eg morning pages
- Write to your business/intuition/future self/God, asking and answering questions
4. Brainstorming
- Mind maps
- Group brainstorm
5. Prayer
6. Silence
7. Yoga
8. Exercise
9. Nature
10. Singing
11. Masterminding
12. Reading/listening to/watching inspiring material
13. Like-minded people
14. Talking to clients
15. Dancing
16. Art
17. Ask a specific question, then get quiet so you can hear the answer
- What is my gut feeling?
- What does my heart say?
- What does my soul say?
- Go to sleep on the question and let your dreams answer (keep a pad and pen by the bed to capture the answer)
18. Driving
19. crafts
20. Doing what you love
21. Staring at the stars
22. Body awareness (noticing how you feel when you think of a particular option/idea)
23. Take a bubble bath or shower
24. Doing mindless tasks like housework
25. Get someone to ask quick-fire questions, and don’t think, just answer
If you open the channel to your inner wisdom, it will keep talking to you – you just need to listen! Over the coming weeks and months, I will blog some more about some of these ideas – if there are any you particularly want to hear more about, please leave me a comment and I’ll address them first. And of course, if you have any more ideas to add to the list, leave a comment below with the ways you access your intuition.

What Dreams Am I Wishing For?

Wishcasting Wednesday is here again…and I am very late with it! Last week I was poorly bad and I just couldn’t answer this question – every time I tried to answer, it felt like I was just repeating another wish. Like you can only wish once for anything? Odd. I’d resigned myself to not answering this one, but then today (now I can speak and sing and breathe through my nose!) I took another look…and along came the answer. It’s worth remembering that when you’re not feeling well, your connection to your inner wisdom can be cloudy, and for me, when I am ill, I am not so positive, not so optimistic, not so hopeful – so it’s worth asking myself questions when I feel better!
What Dreams Am I Wishing For?
A home by the ocean with a big window through which I can watch the sun set over the sea. A loving relationship. A thriving profitable business serving people I love doing work I love. A joyful life. Being surrounded by people who bring out the best in me. A life full of joy, passion and purpose. Yum. Glad I went back to this one!

Weekend Mission: Just for Fun
May 13, 2011 by Donnaonthebeach
Isn’t that incredibly sad? Children understand instinctively that you don’t need reasons to play just for fun. You just do it. But then we grow up and become boring and sensible. Well, I say it’s time to throw that ‘grown up’ persona out of the window and get playing again. Just for fun. Just because you love bubbles and would enjoy playing with a bubble wand. I did! And I make no apology for being 7 years old at heart. Sensible, boring people might not approve (even though I know they secretly want to join in) but I don’t care, it’s fun!
So, your mission this weekend, should you choose to accept it is to play, to do something just for fun. Enjoy!

Intuitively…
May 12, 2011 by Donnaonthebeach
This week I am preparing for a taster workshop I am running called “Creating an Inspiring Business Vision”. I admit to being a bit scared. Something new is always scary. As part of my preparations I’m creating a handout of ways to access your inner wisdom. How do you access your inner wisdom?
Do you even listen to your inner wisdom, your intuition, your soul’s voice, the still small voice within? Or do you acknowledge after the fact ‘I had a gut feeling things would work out like that and I ignored it!’ I would love to hear how you access your inner wisdom – please leave a comment for me below or pop over to my facebook page and leave a comment there. I’ll be sharing all the ideas I collect on my blog next week.
- Intuitively -
In these days of logic and science, intelligence and rational thought are prized highly. However, the voice of reason is not always right. You know what I mean – think of those times when your intuition (or gut feeling) was shouting ‘NO!’ and you still went ahead and did that thing…and your intuitive feeling was proved absolutely RIGHT. Whether we choose to accept it or not, we are highly instinctive beings – it is part of our defence and survival mechanism. And yet we don’t use these wonderful gifts.
I bet Tony Blair’s intuition was screaming ‘no’ to the war in Iraq – but he listened to the voice of reason. Intuitively, we know when something is right, and when it is wrong. The sad truth is that many of us rarely listen to that intuition. Perhaps you will listen when your gut feeling is that going down a dark alley at 2am is a bad idea, but do you listen when your gut feeling is about your career or your business?I have done many things in my career and business life that are based purely on intuition – leaving a job I hated to start my business was one of them. My intuition has yet to be proved wrong in this area – often things don’t work out quite as I expected, but there was always a good reason to follow my intuitive nudges. I have also made many decisions based on the ‘voice of reason’, which has yet to be proved right! It is a scary thing to make decisions based on intuition because you don’t have the back up of a ‘pro’s list’ – you just ‘know’.
For some reason, this isn’t enough for our rational western world. But think about it – has rational thought ever got us anywhere joyful, passionate and wonderful? Not for me it hasn’t. It’s usually sensible, understandable, and spirit-killingly painful! It might ‘make sense’ on one level, and yet most of the decisions I make on ‘rationality’ are nonsensical when it comes to what is best for my soul, for my joy, for my life.
That’s what intuition does so well, it cares for your soul. It might be a bit scary when you are used to making logical, rational, sensible decisions, but when you put it in terms of soul, joy, life, it’s worth facing that fear. Stop crushing your soul by making rational decisions, and start putting your intuition to work to set your spirit free, and live – the way you were born to live, joyfully, freely, passionately, purposefully. Logic can’t help you there, but intuitively, you already know what to do. Are you listening?
- Something to Play With -
How often do you listen to your intuition? Daily, weekly, monthly? Is your intuition drowned out by the worry thoughts? This week start listening to that intuition, and take a small, easy action to follow where it leads. And don’t forget, if you’re struggling to hear the voice of your intuition, I’ll be blogging all the techniques that you guys share with me, and all the ones I use next week. Keep an eye on the blog, and I will share a link to the post next week just in case you miss it. Want to share your thoughts on this article? Leave me a comment below, or pop over to my facebook page and leave a comment there.

What Do I Wish To Take A Stand For?

Wishcasting Wednesday is here again.
What Do I Wish To Take A Stand For?
I struggled a bit with this – I reminded myself of the scene in ‘Bruce Almighty’ where Bruce is asking God to ‘care for the sick and feed the hungry’. “Great if you’re Miss World. What do you really care about?” So what I really care about is people enjoying their life. Expressing their gifts and talents, having fun and being all they can possibly be. Not in a stressful ‘achieve your potential’ kind of way, but in a ‘woohoo, I love this!’ kind of way. So, I wish to make a stand for living life with purpose, passion and joy…but especially joy. (Hoo, got a rush from that one!!)Get involved on Jamie’s blog, or leave a comment here. As you wish for yourself, I wish for you also.

Something to think about this week…

Leisure
WHAT is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?—No time to stand beneath the boughs,
And stare as long as sheep and cows:No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass:No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night:No time to turn at Beauty’s glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance:No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began?A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
