Celebrating January

January 31, 2011 by

It’s the end of the month…what was GREAT about January? What lovely memories do you have of January? What are you going to celebrate from this month and what celebrations are you going to do?

For me: My celebration is a night out with a friend I havne’t seen in a while tonight; I am celebrating having cleared my christmas credit card debt; I went to a fabulous workshop on Saturday, had a lovely meal out with my dad for his birthday, had some GREAT client sessions that I thoroughly enjoyed; I discovered Apple have been selling lots of copies of my ebook; and my favourite thing about January was enjoying health (really appreciating it instead of taking it for granted) after I’d been ill! I could easily (and will, because it’s fun) expand this to include more lovely memories and things to celebrate.

This is a great way to keep your focus on what’s working in your life, not just what sucked! I could easily answer the questions ‘what sucked about January; what bad memories to I have’ (cold, cashflow after xmas, being poorly) but what does that get me? I feel bad? I can moan and complain. Wooohoo…? Not. Whereas when I focus on what’s good, I can feel good, and realise that life is good and there is much to be thankful for. And from there, move into February feeling good about where this year is going. Instead of beating yourself up for all you haven’t done.

Give yourself the gift today of celebrating your life so far in 2011 – even if you don’t think you have ‘enough’ to celebrate – celebrate what you do have, and I promise you that you will find more and more to celebrate as the year goes on.

What Do You Wish to Enjoy?

Filed under Blog posts, Donna's Life

Wishcasting Wednesday is here again. This week was an easy one for me to answer:

What do you wish to enjoy?

I’ve had an infection for the last week and been poorly. The infection has now gone, but left me feeling wiped out. So I wish to enjoy radiant good health, I wish to enjoy a life full of vibrant energy and joie de vivre.

What do you wish to enjoy? Get involved on Jamie’s blog, or leave a comment here. As you wish for yourself, I wish for you also.

You Got Potential

January 20, 2011 by

Are you living up to your best self? Being the best you can be? Fulfilling your potential? No? Join the club! Me neither…until I take over the universe, I never will fulfil my potential (evil chuckle). The first thing that really interests me about this ‘potential’ business is that you can never fulfil it…there’s always something more to be.

And the second is that so many of us don’t even try. We give up before we get anywhere near the person we could be – fear of failure (or of success!) keeps us stuck where we are, in the comfort zone, in the rut. 10 years ago, that was me – I was so underwhelmed by my life that I was running screaming for the exits.

What I’ve discovered since then is that while fulfilling your potential may be an impossible goal (can’t prove that yet…I’ll let you know when I’m running the universe), stretching towards it is EASY. Exploring my potential is fun…and it is an incredible confidence boost to discover all the things I can do if I have a go – dancing, public speaking, sky-diving, training, leadership, marketing, being fully and wonderfully me.

You don’t have to bungee off a bridge or move to China to start stretching yourself and exploring your potential, you can do it gently. Just by deciding to do something new, or even something old in a new way. Life gives us the most wonderful opportunities to grow and expand every moment of every day – do you take those opportunities?

Or do you languish in the easy life, while bit by bit your soul dies? Sound dramatic? Well, that’s how I remember life when I wasn’t expanding, growing, exploring and enjoying my potential. Is it any different for you? Inside you is the most wonderful, magnificent, beautiful, joyful, passionate being…is that being crying to get out?

This week, make the commitment to yourself to start exploring your potential – you could explore your potential for daring, for fun, for joy, for success, for love…for anything you want to be more.

What Hunger Do I Wish to Feed

January 19, 2011 by
Filed under Blog posts, Donna's Life

It’s Wishcasting Wednesday with Jamie Ridler – Jamie says this week’s post is inspired by the full moon, and on her blog is an amazing video of a wolf howling. There’s something very primal about the howling of a wolf that seems to reach into you and pull out at the hungers within you, pull at your vulnerabilities, reach right into that wild wo/man within you and call her forth. So to the prompt:

What Hunger Do I Wish to Feed?

Again, I didn’t have an immediate answer to this one, it was something I had to mull over for a couple of hours before I had an answer (which I really want to point out that when you are trying to listen to your soul, you can’t always get an instant answer…so give yourself a chance to bring that answer forth with time, gentleness, love and peace. You can’t rush the river!) When the answer came it wasL

Expansion.

My hunger for growth – as a person, as a business, as a spirit. I want to expand, to grow, to be everything it is possible for me to be. The hunger I want to feed is the hunger to be ALL of who I am. Fully, powerfully, beautifully, joyously.

Woo, that feels powerful! I love these Wishcasting prompts – join in, what hunger do you wish to feed? As you wish for yourself, I wish for you also.

2011, The Year Of…

January 13, 2011 by

How is 2011 treating you so far? I hope your year has started well…and even if it hasn’t, I hope it will be upwards from here! Today I just have a short article for you to think about. I would love to hear your thoughts on this, so please do leave a comment here or pop over to my facebook page and leave a comment there.

There are still a couple of spaces on my January special offer – 4 coaching sessions for £200 or 6 for £300 (a saving of at least £40 on my usual prices). This offer is only available for the next couple of weeks and I have limited space – so if you want to be one of those lucky people starting your year off with a bang and moving joyfully forward into a life you love – get in touch right now! Simply E-mail me with “Let’s get this party started” in the subject line and we’ll arrange a time to speak to answer any questions you may have or to get started

- 2011, The Year Of… -

What is your theme for this year? What is 2011 the year of for you? Have you thought about a theme? Perhaps you’ve never heard this idea of having a theme for the year. All you do is simply pick something you would like this year to be about, and make 2011 the year of… In the past I have had the year of Joy, the year of Laughter, the year of Learning/Growth/Expansion, the year of Belief, the year of Fun. You may see a theme developing in my themes! I am a big fan of enjoying life more and more and more and my choice of themes often reflects this!

For me, 2011 is the Year of Feeling Good. This year I want to make Feeling Good my top priority. Why? Because I know that when I feel good, I have more energy, I can create more good stuff in my life, I enjoy life more, I am better company, I am more generous, I am more fun and I have more to give. By contast, when I feel bad, I have no energy, no creation, no enjoyment, I’m poor company, I have nothing to give and I’m no fun! Put like that it’s a bit of a no-brainer isn’t it? So what about you? What will you make the theme of this year? Trust, truth, self-care, generosity, fun, laughter, creativity, joy, love, nature, family, focus, adventure, energy, saying yes? What will you choose to make this year about?

Of course, sometimes the year doesn’t quite work out as you plan, or according to your theme, but if you give yourself a theme to work to, you will bring in more of that feeling or quality into your life. Imagine if this year you had an adventure every day? Or you spent time nurturing your friendships every day? Or, like me, you made feeling good a top priority. What might that feel like in your life? I’m anticipating it will feel pretty good!

Wishcasting Wednesday – What do I wish to renew?

January 12, 2011 by

For Jamie Ridler’s Wishcasting Wednesday this week she asks, what do you wish to renew?

For me, I wish to renew my enthusiasm for my business. After 6 years of self-employment, I think I’ve become a little jaded and blase about it…and I want to treat it with the joy, passion and energy it deserves – as I did in the beginning, before I had any idea what I was doing, when I had no experience of anything and no clue how to run a business! Now, from this new place I’m in, where I know infinitely more than I did then, the enthusiasm will be the rocket fuel that takes me to the next level.

What do you wish to renew?

Everything Is Possible

January 11, 2011 by

Last week, the BBC showed a program called “Stargazing LIVE” (check YouTube for a funny video of one of the presenters talking about not being able to see anything because of cloud while a meteor streaked across the sky behind him! Lol – and check out their comments afterwards too). Anyway, not only did this program bring out my inner geek, it also opened my mind to the vastness of the universe. I knew it before, of course, but when a scientist starts talking about a galaxy of a trillion suns 2.4 million light years away suddenly it becomes more immediate and ‘real’.

Can you imagine what a galaxy of a trillion suns 2.4 million light years away contains? No? Me neither. It would be immensely arrogant of us to suppose we have any clue what this galaxy could contain. The universe is so vast that everything is possible, all sorts of seemingly unlikely and improbable things will exist. In universal terms, our current level of knowledge is pretty primitive. Bringing it back to earth, this program reminds me of how little we really know about how life works!

Every day there are new discoveries, every day a new possibility opens up, every day a curious scientist discovers something that he doesn’t yet understand! So imagine if there are endless possibilities and opportunities for you. Imagine if in this vast universe, containing entire galaxies we know nothing about, you are capable of more than you ever imagined. Imagine if all the things in your life that you desire are possible for you. Open your mind to the possibilities of life – look up at the stars and imagine…the impossible could one day be the ordinary!

Make A Wish

January 6, 2011 by
Filed under Blog posts, Donna's Life

I subscribe to Jamie Ridler’s blog posts, and every Wednesday she does something called ‘Wishcasting‘ where she gives you a prompt, and you answer that prompt and make a wish. I’ve been considering posting some of my wishes here for a few months, but never got to it…but this one today seemed the perfect way to start a New Year of Wishes and Magic: What do you wish to say yes to?

So, I wish to say yes to LIFE.
I wish to say yes to LIVING with joy, purpose, passion, love, ease and laughter.
I wish to say yes to my intuitive nudges.
I wish to say yes to my soul.
I wish to say yes to playing full out, being the very best me I can be.
I wish to say yes to making a difference in the world.

(Woah, that felt powerful!)

What do you wish to say yes to? To join in with Jamie’s wishcasting circle, go to this page. Or leave me a comment here. Or both!

What you wish for yourself, I wish for you too

With love

OnTheBeach – Deprivation Motivation

January 5, 2011 by

Happy New Year to you!

May 2011 bring you love, luck, laughter, joy, success, health and wealth in all areas! I hope you are fully recovered from the over-indulgences of the festive season and ripe and ready for a New Year of possibility and fun! Perhaps you’ve decided to start the year by creating some goals? Some ‘New Year’s Resolutions’? The article today is for you if your resolutions are about deprivation and you never keep them (like I never did when I made them – in the end I made a resolution not to make any New Year’s Resolutions…that worked much better!).

This will help you to set some goals for yourself that are more fun, more in line with the beach philosophy of falling in love with your life…

- Deprivation Motivation -

Aaah, the parties are over, the food and drink consumed, the presents unwrapped, the credit card bill has arrived and the New Year’s Resolutions have been decided (and for a staggeringly high proportion of us, already broken!). Now, let me just say, if resolutions work for you then fair play to you…you can ignore this newsletter and come back next week. However, NYR’s don’t work for a lot of people. In fact, the year(s) I actually gave up smoking were those years I DIDN’T set a resolution to do so.

I don’t think I have ever kept even one of them. And I’m not alone in this. And here’s where I go into rant mode…It’s largely because they are all about deprivation. Stop smoking, drinking, eating, having fun, spending money, enjoying yourself, having a life. Bah humbug. Coming hot on the heels of the party season it is no wonder that they’re difficult to keep to! You’ve just got used to partying, having fun, enjoying yourself…and then BANG! Austerity bites.

No more fun for you. Aaaaaaaargh. Not only that, in my opinion January is the WORST month to deprive yourself. Well, in cold countries like the UK anyway. If I was going to set resolutions – I would probably want to give up junk food and get out in the fresh air every day. Trouble with that is, it’s cold. I need a layer of fat to keep me warm. I don’t want to go out in the fresh air because my face freezes off or it’s p’ing down with rain. It’s a recipe for disaster!

This does not mean that I am going to sit festering indoors eating chocolate and crisps. (appealing as that sounds!) I am just not going to try to ‘make’ myself do things I don’t want to do and deprive myself of things I enjoy. Imagine if you trained a dog that way – with insults about being a fat, lazy beggar and replacing its lovely meaty dinners with a lettuce leaf. It’d bite your backside, and rightly so!

Animal trainers know that kindness works far better than cruelty. Think about it. Are your resolutions (or goals for the year) about being good to yourself and enjoying your life or punishing yourself for being rubbish in some way? Are they what you would love to do in 2011 or what you think you should do? Are they inspiring or motivating (in a ‘gun to your head’ way)? Are you going to stick to them? Really?

If they haven’t worked for the last 10 years, why not try something new this year – ask yourself what you would really love to happen in 2011…and ENJOY the journey of achieving the things you want. (or enjoy the cream cakes that got in the way…whatever!) Have yourself a HAPPY new year – make 2011 the year you treat yourself with kindness and love, and make it more important than anything to feel good (because this works!), and watch your life change for the better.

- Something to Play With -

Throw away your New Year’s Resolutions and start a new list ‘What I’d love to do this year’. Start working on your list right away and give yourself the best chance of getting to December and saying ‘this was the best year EVER’! Want to share your thoughts on this article? Leave me a comment below. I love to hear from readers, and will respond to all comments. Or pop over to my facebook page and leave a comment there.
