Living Life With Passion

When you think of Loving Life, what comes to mind?

When you think of Living Passionately, what comes to mind?

When you think of Living Joyfully, what comes to mind?

It is my humble opinion that life is to be lived and loved, passionately, fully, joyfully. For too many of us, we don’t. Love of life, passion and joy are things we don’t even think about. Well, this weekend I have a mission for you – start falling in love with life, living passionately and joyously. How? As ever, one step at a time. Answer the questions above – what comes to mind…and what can you do this weekend to start falling in love with life, living passionately and/or living joyfully?

I see you having a weekend full of love, passion, joy and laughter.

10 Things I Love About You

October 29, 2009 by

I tweeted the other day “Finish this sentence 100 times. I love… Feels good eh?” I’ve been talking recently about getting your energy right first before you do anything – well this is one GREAT way to raise your energy. Focus on what you love. Love energy is so strong, it can work miracles – people have achieved extraordinary feats for those they love.

And it feels GOOD! So I decided to take my own advice and focus on what I love about my business.
1. I love my clients – they are fabulous, fun, open, intelligent, curious, ambitious, and they are all about enjoying their life!
2. I love talking to these clients – I enjoy all my coaching calls SO MUCH!
3. I love the way I get to share all the insights I’ve gained and help others.
4. I love that I get paid to do something I love!
5. I love hearing what people are passionate about, what they love, what their purpose is in life
6. I love coaching – it’s such a fabulous thing to help someone get where they want to be in life
7. I love the uniqueness of it – every conversation is different
8. I love the energy generated by coaching – you can really feel something being created through the coaching process
9. I love celebrating the successes of my clients
10. I love seeing people become more confident, gain their power, LIVE their life

I’ll stop there, i don’t want to bore you! But I hope you could feel the energy change as I concentrated on what I love about… And I hope that you start focusing on what you love about…everything in your life!

Tend to Your Boundaries

October 28, 2009 by

It’s interesting, I often get the same message over and over again (I told my spiritual team to just keep telling me until I got it!) and today I have received this message from 7 (yes, seven!) different sources. The funny thing is that I don’t feel any breaches in my boundaries at all. So I guess that this is not about me – I guess it’s about you.

This is something worth remembering – as a coach I regularly read something or hear something or have a conversation that then turns out to be really useful to a client a couple of days later. At first I found this odd, now it just makes me laugh. This phenomena constantly reminds me that it’s not just about receiving insights, but also about being a channel for those insights so others can benefit too.

Anyway, back to the point of this blog post – boundaries. Imagine that your life is a garden, surrounded by flower beds – are people trampling all over your flower beds, encroaching into your space, ‘dissing’ you? If so, instead of feeling cross with them, tend to your boundaries, create a sign that says ‘do not walk on the grass’! Or do whatever you need to do to ensure that your boundaries are intact.

Instead of expecting others to guess where the boundaries are, make them clear. Teach others how to treat you – with respect and love. Do this by having strong boundaries. You don’t have to fortress up, but you do need to be clear and strong. A little bit of boundary tending now will save you having to clear up a mess in your garden later!

MRI Survival Kit

October 27, 2009 by
Filed under Blog posts, Donna's Life

Well, I did it! I survived the MRI scan. As a claustrophobic fidget, I was a little bit worried about it…to say the least. But actually it was mostly ok. Firstly, I kept telling myself that it would be ok, I wouldn’t be in there long and it wouldn’t be as bad as I feared – a simple step, but essential – reassuring yourself is really important to soothe your fears. I also got a self-hypnosis script from a friend, which was good, definitely helped and reminded me that in the grand scheme of things, I was much stronger than my fear of MRI tubes.

This is essential as our fears have a tendency to assume monster proportions, when actually they are quite small. Let’s face it, this MRI thing took up 25 minutes of my entire life. A miniscule problem overall! I also prepared myself with a few ideas of meditations, breathing exercises and visualisations – again, a fabulous way to soothe your fears is to prepare as well as you can for whatever you do.

Cometh the hour, cometh the eyes screwed tight shut! The light in the room is really bright, it’s well aired, but I knew that if I opened my eyes panic would ensue! So I shut my eyes and started to distract myself (something I have a genius for when it comes to distraction from work! Lol). I thought of big skies in Australia, I focused on my breathing, I pictured myself on a beach watching the sun set, I sang ’3 Little Birds’ by Bob Marley and ‘Don’t you worry’ by The Beloved to myself.

In an MRI you are told the most important thing is to keep still…and I am the world’s biggest fidget. So I wanted to move – I realised I had become uncomfortable and I couldn’t wriggle to get comfortable. Which reminded me of a scene in Blackadder when he’s about to be burnt at the stake and he complains ‘I’m not even comfortable’. Which made me chuckle. This led to another good distraction of remembering amusing scenes from Blackadder.

Finally the noise of the machine stopped (which didn’t bother me actually because it covered the sound of my pounding heart!), and I heard the radiographer come back in. Phew. I had survived, I hadn’t opened my eyes, I hadn’t panicked, and it was over! Then I made the mistake of opening my eyes. Big Mistake. I managed to keep it together while discussing with the radiographer the excessive amount of time it would take to get the results back to my doctor (3 weeks – don’t even get me started!).

When they let me go I literally legged it out of there like they’d set my arse alight. Recovering at that point was actually the worst bit – I wouldn’t go in the loo at the hospital because it was too small, I wouldn’t go in the lift, if I could have walked home I would have! Note to self: next time DO NOT OPEN YOUR EYES. And bring some rescue remedy. In fact, the only thing I’d add to my MRI survival kit is a blindfold, then even if I’m tempted to open my eyes, I won’t be able to see how close the damn thing is!

With a bit of luck I won’t need another one…ever. But if I do I know I can do it. And it reminds me that the more tools you have at your disposal in life, the easier you can get through things that cause you irrational panic and fear!

An Inspiring Inbox

October 23, 2009 by

This morning I received these messages:

From the Universe:

It’s got nothing to do with being a perfect, goody-goody, selfless, sacrificing, spiritual saint, Donna. Blah! That whole characterization was meant for a different audience at a different time, and they really had issues.

It’s got everything to do with being yourself, trusting the magic, following your heart, dreaming big, and having fun.

Hosanna in the highest,
The Universe

“Hosanna,” Donna, as in “Rock On.”

And from Neale Donald Walsch:

On this day of your life, Donna, I believe God wants you to know…

….that you have only just begun to discover your magnificence.

This period of your life marks a New Beginning. You can feel it. And you have only just begun to know the treasure and the glory of You. And you have only just begun to make your Real and Lasting Contribution.

So step into this day with zest and zeal! Go now and give your gift. We’re all waiting for you. And we need the wonder of Who You Are.

Love, Your Friend….

Neale

Both of these e-mails really made me smile this morning. And every morning I get a few inspiring e-mails that I consistently enjoy. Once upon a time I also got a whole raft of stuff that was a bit hit and miss, or actually made me feel ‘bad’. Now you can’t stop work e-mails from coming in, but when you choose to sign up for a regular mailng from someone, make sure it enhances your life. The ‘rule’ is simple, if you enjoy a mailing, always read it and feel good when you do, keep it. Otherwise ditch it.

Happy Friday!

Love

Are We Put on Earth To Be Perfect?

October 21, 2009 by

To reward myself for (finally) completing my tax return, I went to the pictures yesterday to see Surrogates with Bruce Willis. The gist is that the world use surrogates that they control with their mind, so they never have to go anywhere…and they can be perfect in every way. The sad thing is that if this technology really were available, many of us would probably using it.

Imagine it – a world with no pain, no disease, no imperfection, no individuality, no life, no passion, no joy, no fun, okay, I can feel myself going into a rant so I’ll stop there. You see if we were all the same, all perfect, all homogenised it would suck all the life out of, well, LIFE! Are we put on this earth to be perfect? I don’t believe so.

I won’t be on my death bed thinking I should have had more botox or worn more makeup or been more like everyone else. I shall be there appreciating that I LIVED my life – that I laughed a lot, had a lot of fun and enjoyed the journey, spots, wobbly bits, imperfections and all. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to LIVE your life – to enjoy it to the fullest, to have the most fun you can have, and to laugh a LOT more. Oh, and for the A-level standard: embrace those imperfections – they’re what make us human.

Just Take the First Step

October 19, 2009 by

I am supposed to be doing my tax return today – it’s 20 past 2 and I still haven’t started! Now I could use this as a stick to beat myself up about procrastinating and being rubbish (this should have been done months ago, blah, blah, blah) but really, what’s the point in that? Instead I’ve been looking at my reluctance with curiosity.

What’s stopping me? It’s not a difficult taks – all the scut work has been done, it’s just a matter of checking figures, and entering them in the tax website. Easy. So what’s stopping me? Simply that I don’t know where the file is! Seriously. That one little mini thing is the ‘obstacle’. I laughed aloud when I realised this, because finding the file was pretty easy (I just looked to my right, and there it was).

Now I’m good to go, and there’s no more obstacle (well, except finishing this!). You know, sometimes it is really that easy. It’s not that we’re lazy, or ‘bad’, or wrong, or that we need a good boot up the arse. We just need to find the file. So next time you have something you appear to be putting off, ask yourself what is the first step and do that. Once you’re moving, it’s easier to stay moving (basic law of physics!) and before you know it, that first step, next step approach will have you finished!

Right, I’m off to do my tax return…and I must think of a reward for myself for doing it (finally – lol!) – any ideas?

An Injection of Energy

October 16, 2009 by
Filed under Blog posts, Fun, Inspiration

Since having ‘the tingles’, I’ve been unable to do a couple of the things that normally help raise my energy – yoga and swimming. So I’ve had to pay attention to what else raises my energy level and do more of that. When talking about this with a friend, I realised that some people are entirely unaware of their energy levels. I mentioned yesterday the scale I use where 1 is flat, can’t be arsed energy and 10 is WOOHOO, full of enthusiasm energy.

Where are you on that scale today? And what will you be doing this weekend? And will those things raise or deplete your energy? Notice this weekend what you are doing that leaves you feeling drained of energy, and what you are doing that makes you feel alive and full of energy. And take the decision to get an injection of energy – to do things that energise you and fill you with enthusiasm and joy.

And if you like it, you could continue with daily injections of energy…forever.

Energy First, Action Second

October 15, 2009 by

While I’ve been tingling, I’ve noticed more than usual that when my energy is really low it takes me 100 times longer to do things…and often the things I do manage to do are not usable. For example, despite the 2 week break in blogs, I did actually write a few blog posts. Sadly they were utter rubbish! My energy was so low that my creativity just disappeared. And instead of inspiring, fun, interesting posts that will help you live a joyful life…they were the very opposite.

It’s not always practical to not do something until your energy is high and happy – life doesn’t stop just because you’re not feeling tip-top…but if you make your energy level a priority, you will reap the rewards – as will your friends, family, employers, clients. Here’s the scale I work by: 1 is flat, apathetic, can’t be arsed energy; 10 is WOOHOO, life’s amazing, bouncing around energy.

Where is your energy right now on a scale of flat to woohoo? (or 1-10) My assertion is that if my energy is less than a 7, it is an utter waste of time me doing any work because it’s rubbish! As I say, sometimes this isn’t practical, but many times something can be done to raise your energy level – self care, having a laugh, fresh air, exercise, music, focusing on the life you want, time with friends who raise your energy, sleep, star jumps (my old house mate used to do this, I thought she was nuts at the time, but I’m coming round to her way of thinking!)…and many more.

So, if your energy is less than a 7 right now, what can you do to raise that energy? Today. Leave me a comment and tell me what energy-raisers you have used and how your energy is right now.

AWOL

Hello lovely readers. How the devil are you? My sincere apologies for being missing in action, I have been distracted by all manner of other concerns, including a poorly dog, a poorly me, a poorly website and a poorly tyre! Lol. I’m back and blogging now and hopefully everything will now work properly…fingers crossed.

Me and the dog are still poorly – she’s got a bandage on and a lampshade on her head to stop her removing said bandage. She had a cyst removed from her tail and it’s been slow to heal. So any healers and believers out there, please send healing and prayers for her tail! As for me, I’m still waiting for an MRI scan to find out why I am tingling from the neck to the belly button…

There has been improvement as I was tingling from head to foot, but it hasn’t gone away entirely. Of course though, I have been looking for the gift in all ‘bad’ situations, and have a few ideas to share with you. So keep reading – I’m back y’all! Providing nothing else breaks!

PS drop me a comment – how are you doing? What’s going on with you? xx
